12th Novemeber

Well folks,

Live at the east

On July 4 this year we played a show at Melbourne's East Brunswick Club. We collected what has come to be known by many names - The Forefathers, The Happy Hour Band, The Band of Killers.

My dear brothers, Amos Sheehan on the bass, Roger Bergodaz on the drums, Garrett Costigan on the Pedal Steel and Steve Hesketh on the Piano and Organ, who have been helping me make music for a very very long time. The songs continue to change with the time that passes. I guess this snap shot warrants a moment to take some stock. My endless gratitude and best wishes go out to said brothers Amos, Rog, Gaz, Scpu and our live engineer John Castle.

Thanks also to Suzannah Espi and Angie Hart who sung with us on the night. Nights like this, as I'm hoping you will hear on the recording, justify the slog.

I want to thank you the friends and fans who've come along over all those years on all those nights in all those places while we continue this love affair with songs. We remain grateful for the opportunity.

There are songs going back to our beginnings like," Host", where we first cottoned onto this particular kind of long note music. "Into the Trees" is performed with Angie and the full band for the first time. There are songs like "Happy Man" which we have returned to again and again. There are a couple of new songs like "Can You Hear Me Now?" (a letter from the assassin to the candidate) and "Neon Light"... studio versions of which will come out on a new collection of songs next year.

To those of you in places we don't get to travel to, it is great to have you with us for a live show and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed playing it. There are plenty of songs not here and we will add to this collection over time.

Anyway, before this starts to sound too much like an infomercial and I grow a moustache I am gonna leave you to it.

Hope you like Live at the East.

Sime

23rd October

Greetings folks,

Remember

31 Oct 2008 8:00 P
The Tote - Wilson Pickers ALBUM LAUNCH
w/ Dave Larkin (Dallas Crane), Suzzanah Espie and The Palenecks

Be there!!!!

Here's a story for you all...

... it was AGAINST ALL ODDS that The Wilson Pickers have finally completed recording their debut album, with none less than 11 orginal compositions! Again Brisbane was chosen for the location of the recording, in an ailing shack in the Samford Valley. There were two days set aside the record the album live in.

Day one arrived and dark horse Salty Dog was nowhere to be seen, apparently skulking around Melbourne town (where The Nuge and Bedggemeister had just flown in from). Nethertheless, the remaining four members ploughed on and wrote and recorded 5 new tunes, from the pens of all the writers, leaving gaps for the banjo twangs and hoaresy backing vocals of the Salty Dog. Day two arrives and a plague has hit town in line with the Ekka - Vinderbloom is a casualty, stricken at home with a fever.

However, Salty Dog has returned as the prodigal son and a different 4 Pickers hit the studio to lay down some more tracks and this time leave space for Vinderbloom. Still determined to get this bugger of a record in the can, Captain Moz hastily organises a 3rd day in the studio, where 'heaven help us' the whole team will be together to get these last songs down.

Day 3 arrives with the blessing of the sun, and the Wilson Pickers finally unite in full strength (although Vinderbloom is heavily medicated and only just physically there). The tape rolls and The Wilson Pickers hit their strides, belting out the rest of the album in mere hours. It's a wrap.

Cheers

Sime

15th October

Hi folks,

Spending some time steaming my cap peaks in preperation for a summer with The Wilson Pickers,Ladies and Gentlemen. Our record is out now through ABC Roots and later this month we are hitting the road to launch it nationally

THEN rinsing out our boots and heading out to do it all again in support of The Audreys

Should make for a hoot of a November leading into the Queenscliff Music Fest.(which couldn't possibilly match last years election love in but none the less is a great weekend for reminicing!)

So have a wee peruse of this little review and tell me you aren't coming to the launches ... I dare you.

All the best , folks.

I'm going barn bulidin'!
